Humm not sure mate, depends whether you want to stream it or you just want high quality video.

Have a look on the net and see what there is, if your using Premiere to render it then have a play around with a few codecs, just remember to check it on more than one machine to check it works across the board.

I just usually stick to MS Video 1, Cinepak and MJPEG (Motion Jpeg) Then again these may be a little out of date for what you require.

Humm unless you have a dvd burner then no,

    But........

Providing you convert it into the correct sized mpeg2, you can use nero to burn the movie as a VCD. That way, 7out of 10 DVD players can play VCD's as well.

After Effects? What does it do?
If its the kind of program that can generate
realistic explosion effects I'd be interested in rendering some to AVI for conversion into a game I mod for :)

As for AVI.. I'd compress it in VirtualDub using the latest XVID codec.

If you've got an .AVI file, the best program i've heard of for converting is called TMPGEnc. Supports most MPEG formats and keeps the quality. Me and Lazman have used it a few times for ripping DVDs onto VCD/S-VCD.

MPMP 2.0 for Bridge Commander - it incorporates my graphic/sound enhancements, and someone else's 32 frame explosion mod with my explosion textures... its well cool.

I've done textures for the new ships you can use, including the Defiant :D

You can have a look at the explosion effects and some of the ships - i recorded some short demos from in-game, but you'll need XVID Codec and the FFDSHOW filter to view them in Media Player

They've all improved since then tho! :)

    Part 1 and Part 2

XVID can be downloaded from http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/
FFDSHOW can be grabbed from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow/ffdshow-20020617.exe?download
