i dont actually know any deeply religous people at all tbh, and the only time i've ever been to a church was a choir service years ago for school at christmas, and a couple of funerals.

no fucking wonder why i dont like the idea of religion! i fucking hate choir singing.

I think that the reason most people choose to believe even though they clearly don't see the logic is simply that it gives them some sort of sense of hope that they're not just going to end up decaying into little particles and returning into soil.

I think that religion has now been largely debunked and, for example, the way that people can be resurrected from death is testament to their being no possible chance of an afterlife. I think that it will take a long time for what is still essentially a superstitious society to shake off the idea of this. How many people think Derren Brown can make people play a video game which puts them in a "trance" for example, at which point he has full control over them?

If there was some sort of god/goddess ( ) they obviously wouldn't be remotely like the Christian/Muslim connotations. I don't think they'd be judgemental dickheads who try and control people. The common expectations of a "god" are about as right wing and conservative as you can get.

I don't see what you're getting at. God is commonly portrayed as some kind of powerfull conscious entity, hence referring to "him" (even got a sex) as a person.

what do you think caused all these things?
