    Receiving files through MSN

Never had this prob in the past.

But recently whenever I receive a file (mp3) i get a pop message saying the file is potentially harmful and has been blocked.

When i got to the download folder the file isnt even there. The help menu says go to the file and untick block. But i cant see the file to do that!

They're not hidden. Is there a setting somewhere to turn this off?

Just don't try and open the file through msn.

    They've been deleted.

get whoever is sending it to zip it or rename the extension on the end, for example change swanasshittrack.mp3 to swanashittrack.mp3.fuckmsn.

    Works every time ;) :D

You could tick the 'enable file transfer for potentially unsafe file types' which can be found in Options > File Transfer

Then just be careful what you accept.

thats a good point actually...never thought of it that way!

it is bloody annoying though, just turn off the "unsafe" file transfer option.

its the new version thats doing it, you must have updated MSN since you last recieved an MP3

I don't think so, it's probs to stop little lame script kiddies who send their mates a trojan disguised as "thebesttrackever.mp3.exe" ;)

    cheers for the info!

I'm gunna have to check what version I'm using cos first thing I checked was the options, file transfer tab to disable any virus checking or blocking.

Dont remember seeing anything.... got 7.5 here at work and theres only one tickable option which is virus scanning and that aint ticked! Which I'm assuming is same as version I got at home....

Cant see anything about unsafe files.....

It's not there, I'm having a look through the Windows Security Center to see if there's any option there.
