Rangers chief McLeish starts clear-out at Ibrox Alex McLeish has begun the clear-out at Rangers - with Nuno Capucho, Emerson and Christian Nerlinger the first to be told they have no futures. The trio's Ibrox contracts extend beyond the summer however so if buyers cannot be found then the cash-strapped club will be forced to negotiate pay-off deals to get them off the wage bill. Henning Berg and Michael Mols will also leave at the end of the season when their contracts expire, and McLeish hopes Egil Ostenstad will also depart. The de Boer twins, Frank and Ronald, are also out of contract and it now looks unlikely that they will be offered new deals. McLeish said: "I spoke to the players on Tuesday and made it plain they are not in my plans and that it would be better if they looked to secure their futures elsewhere." My heart bleeds ... Pickled onion nut is only doing what he has done throughout his managerial career - inherit a decent side and make a rip roaring c unt of it !!
Arteta hints at Rangers exit Rangers star Mikel Arteta has revealed he could join the foreign departures from Ibrox this summer. Manager Alex McLeish has told a number of players, including Nuno Capucho and Emerson, that they will not be in his plans for next season. But now the Spanish midfielder, who is out with a shoulder injury, could demand a move at the end of the season. "I will of course have to think about my future because I know there has been some teams showing an interest in me," Arteta told the Daily Record. "I might push for something this summer but I haven't made up my mind yet. Right now I'm just so disappointed because after a year like last year, when we won everything, you just want the success to go on and on. "I know there was interest in me during the winter transfer window and if that interest is still there at the end of the season I'll have to make a decision."
It will be interesting to see what McLeish does with NO transfer budget and O'Neil does with very little in the summer. Guaranteed champions league should help us but I reckon the gers have got no chance of qualifying if everyone leaves. We should sign Klos
I dosnt look like Craig Moore is being offered a new contract either. If one person should stay its Moore, he is a great player. Celtic still beat Barcelona though.
Spence > I don't trust Douglas, he's got BIG defenders who are great in the air in front of him and has an obvious weekness for cross balls yet comes for everything and gets very few. He's a good shot stopper but I think we need someone as good as Klos, Given, Lehman etc... there's not many great keepers out there though.
Now that's total bollocks!! I went to every home match with my old man from the mid 80's onwards. Celtic fans have always stayed loyal to the team, even throughout the biscuit tin and Jack McGinn years. The attendances at Park head rarely dropped. Ibrox is a different story.
