Questions ! I,m going to try to fill in a few gaps as to why the sudden desicion to make this the last promise . 1, Foundations imediate future is not going to involve monthly house nights or trance etc with digital cleaning up , foundation needs a reguler more branded weekly night with a more commercial music policy This night will start in the next few weeks , 2, we were working towards promise finishing in a few weeks time with corvin , Matt and richard , it became clear that due to foundations need to put in a reguler night this might not happen therefore i took the painful and hard desicion to make this the last one (made harder by the fact that rich is in florida) 3 , we have had offers to move Promise but as we speak now none are suitable to move from here to a venue not as good would not be what we wanted for the night 4, The points being made about us following the cash are funny the amount of money we need to spend to put on promise is ridiculous , no other promotor it towm spends this amount nor could afford too to say i,m nearly a millionaire is way of the mark in fact richard has recently returned to work on the farm his family own any more questions you have me for two hours exclusive ?
HOW GOOD WOULD THAT OF BEEN! i'll never hear cookie dough in foundation again at least the sceptics will have their questions answered!! Question1 - Saturday - is it £10 for EVERYONE on the door? Question2 - What about the occasional one-off party alá crasher?
have you not thought of any other music genres to start a night i know you most probs have but do you think newcastle really needs another commercial club ??
Does this mean Kissdafunk/Federation/Soul Heaven etc will cease aswell ? Will it be commercial each Friday/Saturday?
what was the major factor in the closure of promise? poor attendance? sick of having to put on the same old faces in order to make any sort of profit? or just simply thought it was time to move on?
It's such a shame that digital is the en vogue place to be now....i much prefer smaller clubs with a better atmosphere and less hype. Too many people are there because it's hip as well, not because they like the music. It's always to full and shiny inside as well. such a shame
digital was ok... just not what i was expecting. i THINK most people have always said - foundation as a venue for dance music is pretty much spot on - dark, industrial - does what it says on the tin - digital has the current spotlight and maybe it'll stay like that while the nights it runs are popular
Promise was founded in sheffield many moons ago , it was a really credible house night before most of the new breed of nights however darkness came across the land of promise and promise went into a dark sleep 5 years later a handsome prince came across promise and he came alive Promise had 6 good years before it fell asleep again who knows when the next prince will come along .
I think digital is everything a club should be, its slick, cool, not a sweat bin well in the main room any way. Excellent lighting effects, and has good nights on.
yes...i think peoplelike these kind of fancy venues these days tho...I dont think anything beats a good dark club where the atmosphere makes it more than the surroundings e.g. BED, Republic (before it changed), foundation
