    Questionable number plates? read on

Just got stopped by the police on my way home (I have..well had... german plates on my car)

anyway, sound bloke, was saying that the police are cracking down on none "by the book" number plates.

So just a heads up for anybody who has iffy plates. He handed me some printed sheets about it so he obviously wasnt making it up about the crack down.

    Cos it looks good :p

It's a VW enthusiast thing, UK reg no. obviously, just on a D-banded pressed plate

forks, yeah I was thinking that lol but made absolutely no mention of it...suppose he was just doing his job after all. Still though, some people do take the piss with plates so it's those people who spoil it for "borderline" people like me...i've had them on since may 2006!

It’s because of the new number plate reading technology, if you don’t have a standard number plate they might not be able to read it, then they might miss out on sending you fines etc. They are only clamping down to make sure they can take more money off you!!

yeah so I read! Also apparently when a plate is flashed that appears to be foreign it isn't processed. And I certainly don't want to miss out on any speeding tickets

    Its true though isn't it.

I pay my taxes which help to pay for the police but you are wasting their time chasing you down for illegal number plates rather than stopping drink drivers etc.

Should have been 3 points and a fine.

I havn't gotten away from any speeding tickets....

besides thats just talk, no actual fact based evidence that it's true, certainly no official material to that effect on the DVLA site

the plates i had on fully comply with EU legislation, are correctly spaced and are on a reflective material. I didnt know they were illegal

    grow up
