    PVD - Global

    Taken from www.undergroundvibez.com

Paul van Dyk is releasing a 2 disk CD/DVD called Global on February 11, 2003 through Mute. This is an intensive and breathtaking overview of Paul van Dyk's extraordinary musical career over the last 10 years. The CD presents 13 newly reworked highlights from Paul van Dyk's own original productions, including two previously unreleased tracks, "Animacion" from the Mexican film 'Zudro' and "My World." The companion DVD offers a powerful 74 minute portrait of the artist and captures Paul traveling all over the world, synchronized in a 5.1 surround sound live mix of the CD.

Paul van Dyk constantly strives for innovation and excellence in his work in electronic dance music and with his latest endeavor Global, he has succeeded on both fronts. Paul's music has been dubbed "warm" [Gear] and "soulful" [Rolling Stone], "dynamic and full of depth" [Billboard], “ethereal and eclectic" [Spin], "infectious but complex" [Gear], as well as "evocative" [Urb], "emotional" [Soma], and "uplifting" [CMJ]. In his own words, the music and vision as exemplified on this 2 disk CD/DVD reflects how "the world has changed so much in the last years. Especially the street and club culture as it has emerged from the beginning of the 90s has had some crucial impact on this development. I [PVD] wanted to create something which is technically up-to-date and capable of reflecting the atmosphere and many facets of today's global culture."

Global will take you through your collective clubbing memories on the dance floor, as well as provide a soundtrack for a global audience where electronic music is the common language. A genuine feeling of celebrating life to its fullest. Colorful, dynamic, and rich in texture, Global takes you on a musical journey -- Paul Van Dyk's musical life long journey. "This DVD shows first and foremost the music and how people worldwide react to it. I [PVD] am a part in the whole process, and I and very happy to be able to be that part." The camera focuses on the interplay between the DJ and party-people, these impressions will allow you to see and feel what Paul is inspired by time and again, going out there and back to create his own unique style of music. Visually stunning and captivating, Global provides an interesting view into the world of Paul van Dyk the artist, along his travels across the globe to the cosmopolitan global destination cities of Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Mexico City, Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, Turweston, and Ibiza.

From a technical aspect, all the tracks underwent a completely new mix in 5.1 surround sound which becomes the soundtrack to Paul's global adventures in the clubs, on the streets, and all across the world. The sound design for this project was performed by Nucleus sound studios, who are industry leaders in 5.1 sound productions. The visual design was handled by Die Gestalten, a communicative design firm also based in Berlin renown for specializing in DVD productions and motion graphics. They culled the DVD footage from over 40 hours of video footage from around the world.
