    PS3 loses features before launch...

Was reading the pre-launch review at work, they've dropped HDMI and built-in wireless from the finished thing. Blu-ray is looking like a major doubt too.

Plus instead of having 6m available for launch there will only be 2m, and 2m after christmas.

They're going to do it in two versions, one with a 20gb hdd and one with a 60gb. The high end one is expected to be around the £550 mark. The games could be up to £60 each.

Tell you what, I'll get a 360 and a wii for the same price :p

This is what I think I'll do..

Gonna get me a dfi expert board, 2GB DDR400 and 2 7900Gts.. this combined with a raptor raid setup and a Opteron 170 runnin at 2.8Ghz should knock the stuffing outta a PS3..

Although I might wait for a decent dx10 card to be released first..

Conroe will be the mutts nutts like..

I desperately want one.. but just shelled out £270 for a 170..
Although.. I might sell that as I need a new mb anyways.

The E6600 will be the chip to go for.. 4MB cache and Dual 2.6Ghz cores for around the £250/£300 mark is a incredible deal..

The PS3 will be good but for that price, it'll not be twice as good as the 360.

The wii will be £150ish and will have the best games. I have a 360 but looking forward to the wii- will be class. nintendo still make the best games by far

It was a trade-only mag, similar to MCV, wasn't on the web.

hmm dont know your source but as far as i know what you're talking about is :

the 20gb hdd one will indeed be missing the wifi and hdmi output.

the 60gb one will have both these features.

not read one single thing about them dropping blu-ray and i seriously doubt sony would even think about doing that for a second seeing as thats a huge part of their push for the machine.

oh and last i read was that they are thinking of not even bothering releasing the two different consoles in the UK and are just going to plump for the 60gb version.

i could be wrong but as far as i know that is all correct.

Re: Re: PS3 loses features before launch...

The mag I read said exactly the same about them only releasing the 60gb version in the UK.

It also said they'd dropped HDMI + Wi-Fi from the budget model and were considering dropping wi-fi from the final one.

They've had problems with overheating and have had to re-design the front to allow more cooling (so it looks a lot more like PS2). They still seem to be having a few problems in getting Blu-Ray to work with it as well, the mag had an interview with one of the dev team and he said they were considering what to do with it (whether to leave it in or not). Personally I think they will; if they get it working everyone buying a PS3 gets a Blu-Ray and that will give them a huge headstart on HD-DVD.
