    PS2 loading problems

Anyone else get pissed off when they buy brand new games yet they won't load up!? My PS2, like most others, is pretty old and makes clicking noises when it tries to load games/dvds. It takes about 15 minutes of ejecting/reseting before the stupid thing works. My SNES is more reliable!

Anyone know how I can fix this myself? I know there's stuff you can get off ebay but I don't know exactly what I need and how I can put it in the PS2 to make it read games like new again.

(I've used laser lens cleaners but they don't seem to work.)

Please help me before I get the hammer out!

    it's the laser.

if it's a v.3 (the first lot that came out, £300, at time of release) then you're looking at £30 and fit it yourself. ebay for new lasers, otherwise, u can find PS2 repair companies on the web

a new laser is only £30 - a new PS2 £100... just get a new laser?!??!?! especially if it's chipped.

but the old one works - except for the laser... buying a fitting a new laser saves £70 and means u don't have to re-chip your station - more added cost. if you're that way inclined.

New laser it is then! I'm not gonna buy a new PS2, waste of money if my current one is only having trouble reading games.
