If all your wanting to do is play 'back-ups' then get magic switch 3.3 and a slide/switch tool.. You can buy them legally and they don't void warranty..
After some research, as expected there's ways around it! I've found a company that fits blank Matrix Infinity chips which isn't illegal. You then go to the infinity website where u can download the firmware as a bootable PS2 disk which burns the eprom. job done.
