Problems with laptop seeing the CD rom

i installed Musicmatch Jukebox onto my Vista running lappy last night, apparently there are compat issues so i uninstalled, its fucked up my cd rom drive, it now isnt coming up in "my computer" and is listed in Device manager as "cannot located or load driver may be currupt of missing"

if you click "check for solutions" is comes up with a "cannot load driver s/w" and flicks off

if i reboot with a audio cd in the drive it will auto play the audio cd BEFORE windows boots so its fine just not working within windaaas

Go on to device manager and look at the little yellow triangles with exclimation marks, or if it is listed in there uninstall the drivers.

Reboot and it should try to boot up your hardware and then take ur driver CD and use that or if you know what CD drive it is install from the web.

iv unistalled drivers then scanned for new hardware it installs the drive but pops up with error installing driver

iv tried updating driver from microsoft but it just says "your drive is already upto date"

its called a Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500a

IS Optiarc a brand name?

Seems like Optiarc is the make, but it is owned by Sony.

I had almost exactly the same problem around a month back and it did my head in for about a week.

Eventually I found this which sorted it out for me.

Actually... that looks a lot more complicated than the method I used.

I downloaded a program called MicrosoftFixit50027 which sorted it out.

if it's a laptop, go get the updated drivers from the manufacturers website - if there is any

theres non :~( just a firmware and that wont install cos it ant see the drive

is it removable? shut it down, take it out. reboot. shut down again, put it back in - see if picks it back up and re copies the drivers from system32

where did you get this i cant the direct download

FIXED (i think, havent tried a BRay disc yet)
