Problem with Hardrive cont... Right......... Iv bought a new HD to replace the dead one. Its a 80gb Maxtor. The old pc (A HP P3 550!!) picks it up in Bios but cant access. The PC freeze's "Detecting Hardrive" when you try and auto detect its size etc in Bios. It will not detect on the boot up screen... just show no HD installed. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A HD TO BE "TOO BIG" FOR A OLD PC TO SEE/USE???? The new HD works fine on my PC (after asking me to turn on some BIG HARDRIVE OPTION)and I have tried creating a small (10gb) partition on my PC then transfering to the old PC but it still locks up when trying to access it. HELP ME GEEKS!! PLEASE DONT SAY I HAVE TO BUY A NEW PC?!?!? :worship:
Re: Problem with Hardrive cont... Yup it might be too big! Find out what moptherboard u have and get a BIOS firmware upgrade...shud do the trick
get the model of the motherboard - and check it out on the web. Some motherboard only accept upto certain size HDs.... but i would have thought an 80Gb on a HP 550 isn't too old..... i suppose it depends on the speed of the HD too... maybe... narr. Get the motherboard- check on t'internet
