Stupid idea. Now every time a police officer from a minority gets the job deservedly, people will say they're just making up the numbers.

Wasn't this all shown not to work in the US anyway?

We've been doing our diversity awareness training at work - this was a point brought up - their arguement is that it's for minorities that are having trouble anyways - for example - a white police policing a mainly black community isn't good.

But other companies run 'positive descrimination' courses, for example i've heard of courses for middle management to help them get promotion - only open to women

I agree it's totally unfair, the best person should get the job.

We run management training courses for black or ethnic minorities only

I'm undecided; a muslim police officer would be far better suited to tackling isalmofascist preaching as he will have a better understanding of the community, he'll speak the language and he'll be more approachable to those within.

But do initatives like this just further divide our immigrants populations from their hosts.... Speaking arabic shouldn't be an issue when living in the UK.
