    Port Forwarding

Ok i have no idea about this stuff.

I'm trying to reconfigure my router so i can use DC++ properly again (since bought a router).
I've been informed I need to do this port forwarding mallarky and have been directed to the following site:-

    http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Which was very useful apart from it doesnt have my router listed which is:-

An Edimax AR-7024Wg-A , the site only lists the 602 version.

So i followed that guide thinkin it would be similar and clearly the setup screens of the router are completely diferent!
I've found the port forwarding tab:

    Anyone help?

I cant read the boxes properly there

But all you need to do is enter the port range used by DC++

For TCP inbound and outbound this is 1025-32000 - DC++ uses any available port in the range.

    Same For UDP

So, you enter that range, then you need to forward it to your own PC - becuase the way routers work, the port forwarding acts like a "tunnel" from the WAN side of your router, through the firewall, and onto your PC in the LAN.

The destination IP needs to be you LAN IP - if you to go Run, type cmd, then at the promt type "ipconfig" you get something like this:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 1:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

The one saying "IP Address" is what you need to enter into the router.

And thats about it in as non techy manner as I can go

    Ah much better!

    ID: 1
    Ext. Port: 1025-32000
    Private Port: ?
    Port Type: TCP
    Host IP Address: 10.0.0.3

Add a second one, same details, but Port Type: UDP

    Don't worry about DNS :)

    That should get you going
