Political Correctness going Wild Again. this made me giggle: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7474801.stm after seeing MOS's Post on fathers day cards, this just add's a newer tier to the whole PC crowd's power over society. dont get me wrong here, i'm all for equality in the workplace, and fair pay agreements, but on the TV news they worded in a way which suggested that Women and Minorities would get pride of place in an employment race. if so thats fucking stupid and surely preduced agaisnt white men! i suppose the highly paid women in politics must care so much then. i hate this fucking country.
surely the point in sexual equality is that neither women nor men are discriminated against? If a woman is a better candidate than a man for a job, give it to her, or vice versa. I doubt this law will get anywhere tbh. as an aside into PC bollocks I find this funnier... what does ASDA think she's doing - getting a birthday cake for a paedophile?
thats stupid that, then again it all comes down to what ASDA's policy is - and what asda would have done to that poor student working at the cake section if he did print it uncensored. still tho, the world (or just england) is becoming an increasingly unstable and paranoid place. i cant wait till i'm away fighting, it seems alot less hassle than staying here and being told i'm a white male so i'm back of the queue when i want a job. ffs.
probs the reason why i cant seem to find a job at all at the fucking moment, absolutely desperate, owe rent to landlord and have solictors letters. fucking nightmare man! gowansy.
If you read this bit: "But if, for example, a headmistress wanted to discriminate in favour of a male teacher to balance an all female team that would be allowed too," it shows about addressing areas where there is an imbalance either way, not just saying that all women and minorities should be given all the jobs. Leave the knee-jerk reactions to the Daily Mail. If there was equality in the workplace this wouldn't be needed. I'm against positive discrimination in general, but it appears this will only be used where there is an existing imbalance (and from what I've read it would only be used in this case, and only if the employer chose to). The point about disclosure of pay rates would definitely help close the pay gap, or do you think women should be paid less than men for doing the same jobs? Michael - this is a long way from becoming law, so you can't blame it for any lack of employment, that's more likely to do with the economic situation as a whole.
