Police vet live music, DJs for 'terror risk'

I wonder how much this might be implemented if at all? Lets put an end to this creativity and everything that comes with it!

I got my thumb print taken for smoking a tab in London the other day. It cost me 2 quid for the pleasure as well.

    "Bashment"?

Is Mark Deakin now drawing up the forms for London Police? Or is dancehall really capable of radicalizing impressionable young minds?

Is "The Register" really a credible source for this kind of article?

Just seems a bit of an odd article for them to run

A bit like Shoot running a story on the disapearence of a church from a remote village in Russia.

the way things are going in this country is really getting frightening now.

these sort of things used to go on in the old communist block and we used to pity them. now they can put on whatever concert they like and we have to apply to mr plod to be allowed to listen to live music.

presumably if a performer is blacklisted by police if criminal behaviour occurs at one of his concerts he might never be allowed to perform here again, effectively rendering him unable to earn a living. just on the say so of some faceless copper.

it's slowly creeping into a totalitarian state whilst the population get pissed and apathetic.

Aye, this is what I get pissed off at the majority of Australians for. Most aussies have never been abroad (and don't really want to), and a lot have never left the state they live in, but they honestly think they live in paradise. They say it all the time, and whenever they meet a 'POM' the first thing they say is "Welcome to paradise mate". The Aussies who do do this have never been out the country, and like Sarah Palin, don't know the difference between a continent and a country. They swallow everything the government says - as long as it keeps those evil Muslim terrorists out and lets them live in utopia. The government pushes alcohol on people as a way of controlling them and people walk around in a daze not questioning any added security measures the government implements.

Its only the ones who've been abroad for any length of time who are even remotely bothered about whats going on here.

thats true it's also going anywhere that IS a police state makes you feel terrified when our country starts going down that route and no one seems to know, or care.

one day you might be on the receiving end of this or similar legislation.
the anti terrorist laws have so far been used to stop a man heckling Tony Blair and arresting a woman for reading out the names of the war dead of Iraq across the road from parliament.
your attitude is exactly why they get away with this shit

I spolied my paper at the last election because I dont agree with the current politcal system. Id be interested to know you voted for?

While those stories are probably true, theres usually 2 sides to each story. That area of London has always been extremely policed and I doubt youd find any country in the world willing to let people get excited outside the main political HQ. That doesnt mean there is no democracy, its just precaution. If there is a large group of people protesting (everything starts with one person) then its much easier for someone to slip in there unnoticed and do some serious damage with lets say, a bomb.

Governments have been doing stuff for years that I disagree with but I cant say my life is noticeably worse because of them. You either accept that things are not going to be exactly as you want them to be or you can spend your whole life complaining and trying to fuck the system over and forget to actually live your life.

Its not that I dont care but Im more concerned about affecting my own circle than I am of altering the whole country.

I voted liberal. I have voted liberal ever since I started voting and so have never voted for a winner even once (although it did get close when I lived in whitley bay.)
They say if voting changed anything they wouldn't let you do it but I still do, pointless as it seems.
the thing is all these restrictions are brought in with one reason given - :eek:TERRORISM:evil:
and once your rights are gone they use them for another. power has to be watched constantly or it goes bad .
and you can't say your life isn't worse because of them cos it creeps up so slowly that you forget that you can no longer do stuff that you once could- being only concerned with your own little backyard is how they get away with it.
I can't change stuff but when I can I protest. doesn't make me Michael Moore. Although I do admire the fact that when General Motors ruined the place he lived he got off his fat arse and tried to do something about it if more people were like him then things might change.
I'm sure you would care if you were stopped DJing by some edict from above and when you turned round and said this is unjust everybody would just turn away and call you a communist

Vote BNP as a protest vote thats the only thing that will get change (not them getting elected by rising in numbers) not "spoiling yr paper" (did u blow yr nose on it?).

BNP votes get parliments arses clicking lilke nothing else. Just look how France reacted when the Right very nearl got in there, totally osrted their shit out and came down hard on the freeloaders.

Lucky I dont own any bashment then isnt it

You say about all these things that we cant do now that we used to able to do but what are these things? Please dont say smoking in pubs.

Im pretty sure that people would be kicking off at the government if someone blew up central London tonight but theyre also quick to blame the government when they try and put measures in place to stop things. Do you really think there are shadowy figures who's aim is to enslave the population? Your paranoia is more dangerous to you than anything the government could ever do.

However bad this country maybe to you, atleast you wont get a bullet in your head for disagreeing with the people on Downing Street.

no I don't think there is a conspiracy to enslave, just venal people who want to either compel people to follow their moral code or get more power for it's own sake.

as to where we are at the moment well yes smoking in pubs is one. who gives anyone the right to stop people doing it if they want to and the pub/bar want them to and the staff don't mind?
singing in a pub is one thing you now need a licence for with a whole pile of conditions
having a drink in a public place is another
being locked up for a month without trial or charge
    being made to carry ID
not being able to make racist remarks
not being able to buy sex if you want to
not being able to make a phone call without it being logged by the authorities
not being able to leave the country without having your iris scanned fingerprints taken and personal details recorded
    being videoed on every corner
having your movement restricted banned from the internet, phone, or seeing your friends without being told why or allowed to defend yourself

that's just off the top of my head
    it's not paranoia
