I find him too housey and slightly boring. I prefer electrical industrial death techno ala Chris Liebing.
Hawtin is good but his sets tend to have no structure, Rush is to hard, it all sounds the same. Leibing, UMEK and Ben Simms are my fav's. Been a techno fan for years all over the place and they are by far the most entertaining.
Hey I like housey! and least he has the sense to chill out a bit towards the end of his set. Thereby sparing my head from smashing into 1000 pieces at 7.00am. Gotta say Jeff Mills is wicked too oh and Dave Clark is sight to see if just for technical ability.
I love dave c, but ben simms is a better DJ tech skills wise. he always has 2 tunes mixing and does loads of tricks with the 3rd
RICHIE HAWTIN HAS TO BE MY FAV. HE'S FUCKING AMAZING, HIS DECKS AND EFFECTS THING IS TOP CLASS. AT CREAMFIELDS HE HAD HIS OWN STAND SET UP AT ONE SIDE OF THE MAIN DJ STAND, SOME BOY. UMEK IS ANOTHER FAV ALL HIS PRODUTIONS ON HIS RECYCLED LOOPS HAVE BEEN BEEN CLASS. ONLY SEEN HIM A !COUPLE OF TIMES. BUT HIS TOURTUE CHAMBER CD REPRESENTS ALL THE TIME, BEST LIVE CD IV'E HEARD! DAVE ANGEL ANDY WETHERAL LAURENT GARNIER, ALL TOP CLASS, GOING TO SEE DAVE CLARKE AT T IN THE PARK, CAN'T FUCKING WAIT. NOT QUITE SURE WHAT STYLE OF TECHNO IS HOUSEY. WELL INTO THE FUNKY STUFF THOUGH.
Haven't seen Hawtin, but one local guy you need to check if you get the chance to is Suade - loops, decks + fx, he may have gone to Barcelona now but if you ever see the name go and hear for youself, quality. Also, you may not have heard of him, but Charles Siegling is amazing too. He's from Paris and is one half of production duo Technasia, 3 decks rockin hard and funky techno, class dj. Gonna check out Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier and others at T in the park.
I agree he's class. I'm fairly sure I saw him on the flyers for Freaking Dancing on Saturday. I could be wrong though.
