Places that do outdoor activites in Newcastle/Tyne & Wear

Kinda following on from my other thread about outdoor activities, does anyone know of any places in the area that organise things like walking, climbing, canoeing etc?

I need to find as many places as possible for work placement opportunities. I know there's Whickham Thorns Centre, but I'm not familiar with anywhere else.

    Advice appreciated :)

northumberland national park is probably your best bet close to home mate (technically not tyne and wear but not a million miles away) it does sailing and caneoing, and also fishing - i go up as often as i can in the summer.

and if its placement stuff your after its run by the national parks trust so it wont be short of a job or 2!

Yeah already got Beamish on my list Carter, didn't have that one though Dan. Cheers both of you :D

Hopefully I'll get something sorted, I have about 10 places now.

    :D

Hmm, on second inspection, the N. National park is a mission away as far as day to day travelling goes ;(

What/where are they? I'm keen on sorting out a weekend of this for me and my mates, haven't done rock climping/canoeing/scrambling etc since Howtown when I was at school!

There's loads of stuff you can arrange in a stag party kind of way, but I'm bearing in mind that the fire service/prince's trust is gonna be contacting these places asking if they'll have me for work placement so anything stag-party related wouldn't work.

*Climb Newcastle is opening in about a week's time. Most of these places have a website if you do a search.

haha well it's sticking with the theme of activities, at least. And that was thrown in there originally because we're going go-karting in the next few weeks and needed suggestions :D

Oh, and what's wrong with Newburn?
