£1,599 - http://www.soundware.co.uk/sc/products/Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus I will be off down to the BPM show beginning of october for a review on these properly, however they are available in the stores by the end of this month. In the meantime if you are seeking a Pioneer unit for your home or bedroom that features the same WiFi and RekordBox technology including USB sticks and no CD's , check the XDJ-Aero out as its only £869!! as opposed to £3000!! http://www.soundware.co.uk/news/2012/09/06/saturday-showcase-pioneer-xdj-aero/
nearly 3 and a half grand for a pair? Thats silly money, especially as the XDJ seems to cover most of the same functionality.
Shocking price, especially when their flagship CDJ was less than 700 quid brand new, only 7 years ago. Still, people want an industry standard, regardless of the price. Looks like the need for an independent screen, and CDJ transport isn't going away for a long while. Gone are the days when you could, at a stretch, get a full club standard DJ set up at home for a few grand. Try doubling that now eh.
Aye, this kind of gear seems to be marketed towards the club market than the home DJ market. They know that DJs will start asking for it on their riders, and clubs like digital et al will have to buy/hire them to bring in the punters, and won't balk at paying for it like the bedroom DJs will.
Those videos from Laidback Luke, Kissy Sell out and Eats Everything are incredible. So incredible, i think i might just never bother playing around with DJ'ing (in my spare room, to the cat) ever again (lie).
Eats Everything was the only listenable one for me, the other two just sounded like they were pressing everything they were told to press in the time limit of the video.
True enough. Technically they show alot of skill, but I can't get into or dance to music that is way too obviously being fiddled with. If i was off my bracket in a club and someone started doing that i'd be out into the smoking area like a shot.
exactly. people get obsessed with functions and effects. you need a bass line to dance so just play the song. leave the fucking about for the studio not the dance floor
There are only a few DJs I've seen who can do fucking about with FX without it sounding contrived or shit, James Zabiela & EA definitely being among them.
