    phpbb and MySQL help?

We are (well my IT person is) trying to build a phpbb board however he is having problems creating a MySQL database, any helpful tips?

The problem seems to be something to do with the site hosting (www.brinkster.com)

not all companies that host websites sometimes support all internet protocols, i.e. PHP, MySQL, etc.. i know mine (www.freeola.com) only just recently added PHP. Send them an email, just a query - see what they say......

The problem we are having with mySQL is that my techie doesn't have it!

    Does anyone have it?

Any chance anyone could send me an empty mySQL 4.0 database and let me know the user name and password........

    :)

I've got 5 SQL dbs, 4 of them spare, so if you want one just drop me a line.

Alternatively I can just set you up a phpbb on my webspace and give you the admin login if that makes things any easier...

    :)look here for the example

By "doesnt have it" do you mean that it's not on your web server or that your "techie" doesn't have it??

You don't need to do anything manually with MySQL at all when using phpbb...it's all done for you.

All you need to make sure is that it's turned on on the server, which you typically do in your profile for the web account.

phpbb is aimed at those who don't know php/sql coding, so as long as your host offers it, you are alright
