    Phone contracts

basically i renewed my contract with vodafone in march, i got a blackberry strm and basically the phones a fucking dud half the time, really slow and everything seems to take an age, the battery life is getting progrssively worse, it lasts a day and thats if ive made no phone calls and sent a couple texts and just check it basically to see if ive got any mail. is there anywhere i stand on this where i can say the phone aint fit for purpose give me a new one etc? its boiling me piss sometimes cos even the most simple applications are grinding to a halt and causing the phone to lock up require a battery pull?

    cheers

Electrical goods are covered by a 12 month warranty by law. They should be expected to last at least that long.

You've got grounds to insist it be repaired or replaced at the very least.

Lee, I don't know if this would work, but I'd seriously ask them to change it for the Blackberry Curve 8900. They might do it because it is a cheaper model but its a fab version - I know two people who 'downgraded' and love it. Can type faster/easier as well. Battery life much better.

nice one lads, im aware of the 12 month warranty thing like but i know what theyre like, they will just test it and say its fine and al end up with the same phone. might check them curve things out like but i want a phone with sat nav as mine actually gets used lol and am paying 5 quid per month for use of it. al just play hell with them as usual and see where it gets me.

Vodafone are quite good with returned phones. i've taken 3 back in the last month and i've been given a new one each time. I even spilt vodka on one of them and just said the phone had died.

If I take me storm back what would people recommend? I also bought the cradle for it so I can use it as a sat nav, anyone reckon I will get me money back on that?

They will only give you a like for like replacement (It's written the T&C'S of the contract) , or with vodafone I think they just repair them and send them back to you.

Normally with BB's if they are running slow its because you dont have enough memory spare on the handset itself.
