I can understand why Pennant went off the rails. He signed for Arsenal at 15, and was supposed to the best teenager in Britian. But unlike Walcott, who seems very well grounded, he came from a very disaffected family, and couldn't even read when he joined Arsenal. So by the time he got to 20, and STILL no breakthrough into the first team, he probably thought "Am I this great player I'm supposed to be?" and went off the rails. Obviously, he went a bit too far with his antics, but thats due to upbringing IMO.
