    pc startup?

when my PC starts, like when you first turn it on before xp runs, you know the little beep that comes out of your computer?

well its not such a little beep, it goes on for about 30 seconds, then might decide not to start up (usually does though)

What the hell is going on? done an AVG, will do a hijack this if necessary.

its more annoying as anything else. :)

thats probably the BIOS... it usually means a heardware error, like a keyboard error or something like that - when u first turn it on, before the 'XP' screen, you might get the brand of the PC, or a black screen with whitew writing - can u see anything that looks like an error message?

for example, it could be a keyboard key stuck down, or a wrong setting in the BIOS...

    Getting it on
ah well in that case it could be fookin anything, but MoS is right it's deffo a hardware driver summik or other.... before the XP screen it's loading all the low level stuff

gonna be a bit tricky to fix from here like

sounds like it's had a pretty serious crash or something hardware. try booting up with no keyboard or mouse plugged in.

then, try get into the BIOS (by pressing F2 or DEL or something - it'll tell you.) - select the option 'LOAD SETUP DEFAULTS' save and reboot. probably won't make much difference. sounds quite severe

Your computer beeps continually upon startup. In many cases, this means that one of your keys is stuck in the down position and that character has filled your computer's keyboard buffer (a bit of memory that stores keystrokes before sending them to the computer), which in turn is causing the beeping. Another symptom of this problem is if you see a keyboard error message display on-screen at startup.

If you can see which key is causing the problem, lift the key with your fingers or gently use a paper clip to move it. If you can't tell which key is causing the problem, restart your computer using another keyboard; if the computer starts without incident, the problematic keyboard is likely kaput so you'll need to replace it.

Is it that? surely when I type it would also be affected?

borrow a different keyboard and try it. That'll then tie it down to either 1) faulty keyboard socket on the motherboard (both keyboards will do the same 2) faulty keyboard (the borrowed 1 will work fine)
