looks like where getting him, and speedo is goin to bolton lol from sky sports: Patrick Kluivert looks set to seal a move to Newcastle United after Barcelona agreed to pay a percentage of his wages over the coming season. The Dutch maestro has one year left on his contract at Camp Nou, but Barca told him earlier this summer that he was free to leave. Barca had hoped a club would take him off their hands without any cost to them, but they have now agreed to pay a quarter of his wages (€1.75 million) over the next 12 months. Newcastle are understood to have agreed to take up the rest of his contract over the coming season which will cost them €5.25 million (£3.5 million). The Magpies have also agreed a two-year option with Kluivert which could be signed at any point over the coming year, dependent on how he fares in The Premiership. "We're not expecting any big surprises," said Kluivert's agent Paul Foortse. "We're hopeful because there is a willingness from both parties. Both parties want to have an agreement, so we're optimistic. "It's now a matter of going ahead or not, so we expect before the end of the week that it should be finalised or it will not be finalised. "But we hope to finalise it before the end of the week." The deal represents a major financial outlay by Newcastle, but the fact no fee is involved means they have the freedom to make Kluivert the highest-paid player at St James' Park. United have just returned from a pre-season trip to the Far East where they had just one new face in their squad in the shape of James Milner. Since their return, The Magpies have wasted little time in lining up a couple of deals with Nicky Butt expected to join Kluivert in the next few days. Newcastle had baulked at Butt's £5 million asking price, but Manchester United look to have relented in their stance and will allow the England midfielder to move on - perhaps even on loan.
