Been working in Teesside for over a year now and havent tried a parmo. Going out for lunch tomorrow with work and the lads have pursuaded me to get one.

Anyone had one? are they as good as the smoggies make out??

One of the lads I live with is from Teeside and he bangs on about them all the time. Tried one from Newcatle and it was nowt to write home about. My smoggie flatmate reckons it wasn't a proper parmo, though.

Do you work in construction, by any chance?

Just thought I remembered one of your posts in another thread mentioning that most of your work is with the NHS, schools etc. I work in construction as well and that seems to be where all the work is.

Also, I'm sure there's a picture of a parmo, or something very close in the 'this is why you're fat' thread.

Aye, our company have let go of about 5% of the staff in the country, but our office are taking on as we are stowed off with government work!!!

I'm a fan Depending where it's from. They are very unhealthy like so 1 a month is the limit, I'd rather have a parmo than any other takeaway to be honest.

Good choice though Zoe, Hot Shots are the ones!

i wouldn't say they're as good as the smoggies make out, but they're not bad. a bit bland though, so the ones with meat/chillies on are a lot better than a plain one.

there's a place in town (newcastle) just down the road from the magic flame that does them.

I've not, never even heard of it. When i get one i always get a half and there's more than plenty so just get a half if you can.

There's not much more on a hot shot to be honest just a bit of pepperoni and Salami and chilli/Jalepeno.

They are nice, but can be quite sickening if there is too much cheese but i'd still rather a Parmo than any other take away.

There ok, do get a bit sickly after a while tho. Only ever had a small version, the bigger ones are like bins lids!

The Coulby Farm pub (not that sure where it is, just off the A19 down that way) do nice ones like, not as greasy as the take away ones

i've only ever had one from that place once and i was completely off my tits, so i have no idea what it was like. however, i've had them a fair few times when i've been out in hartlepool.

none of this half parmo nonsense like, that's what the girls do, full one every time, even if you can't finish it!

Tried a one in Starters restaurant in Yarm, was spot on actually though by all accounts it was a tad nicer than the ones that you usually pick up from a take away at 4am

a half parmo also get called a ladies parmo so your right there
