Alan Smith is a typical example of a player with Newcastleitis, good quality player whose career takes a nosedive and spends all the time on the injury table when he joins the mags.

    :lol Dan !!

Alex Ferguson ruined Alan Smith BUT was he really all that anyways?

At Leeds he got the odd goal and looked half decent, Ferguson stupidly and i will never know why tried to make him into the new Roy Keane?

Surely there was summit in the Bells Whiskey at the time....

at leeds he was a decent striker, mainly because he was small and quick. since united tried to slot him into roy keane's position, he's put on a canny bit of weight that he hasn't shifted, so he's too big and slow to play as the striker he used to, and too shit on the ball to play in midfied. essentially, a pretty shit buy all round.

He was a good player. Never been the same since the Man U leg break.

Typical Toon signing though. How much did we pay? Fergie obviously realised he wasnt up to it anymore. Just like Mourinho did with Duff, Tottenham did with Steve Carr, etc etc

Typical conversation at other Premier League clubs

Manager: Mr Chairman, (insert crocked player name) just cant cut it at the top anymore. Anything we do?
Chairman: Leave it to me. Il give St James Park a call.
    Ker-ching!!!

He's a very average football player at best. The fact that no manager knows where to play him says it all for me. He's never had a great strike rate so he's not a forward; he's not quick or skillful so can't play on the wing, and he can't tackle and doesn't have any great range of passing so he's not a central midfielder.

He's all Newcastle's shittest players rolled into one!
