Owen out for 6 weeks Michael Owen seems destined to have yet more surgery after reliable sources last night insisted that the England striker requires a hernia operation which will sideline him for up to six weeks. Although Newcastle United's manager, Sam Allardyce, said yesterday that Owen was "absolutely fine", it appears that the groin problem which forced his withdrawal during Monday's 1-0 defeat at Derby County is more serious than initially thought. In the short term he can go on playing, and he could conceivably continue until December, but he needs to perform protracted, carefully planned warm-up exercises before taking the field and the danger of his groin trouble becoming aggravated and impeding his game increases the longer he remains on the pitch. That is all.
Why not get it over with now, so we can have him back while Oba is away in Africa. (if he lasts that long )
This report is by Louise Taylor a self confessed Sunderland fan, apart from this one time: "I interviewed Times reporter Louise Taylor for ALS, about her passion for the Red and White cause. So imagine my dismay when I was handed a recent cutting from Newcastle United's matchday programme to read a piece she'd written about her life as a fan. It starts off encouragingly enough when she tells of her fondest memory of St. James' Park being when she saw Gary Rowell net a hat-trick there, but then things seem to take a dramatic nosedive. She adds after this: "Before anyone accuses me of anti black and white bias, those days are long gone and my support for Sunderland has now, rather sadly, lapsed. Indeed, nowadays, I would pay to watch Newcastle in preference to a trip to Roker Park where, unless there is immediate and dramatic improvement, relegation looms." I couldn't believe my eyes. At the time she wrote the piece our league position was not as favourable as it is now, but what was she doing admitting her altered loyalties in Newcastle's programme? Well when I saw her recently at the Kenny Dalglish press conference and asked her about the article, she just smiled and walked away. A no comment I think. " I fucking hate this bint
Even if he was injured or needs an operation Obafemi Martins was our leading scorer last season and it seems still some peoples first choice so can fit right in? Incidently Graham i dont see us pitching our tents to mock the fact you's have lost Carlos Edwards / Dean Whitehead or Kieron Richardson when needs be cos quite frankly we couldnt give a fuck innit?
The whole country takes an interest in Owen's medical plight though, i hear Ladbrokes have started taking bets on what injury he gets next?!
