you will have to be careful because laptops are less efficient as far as cooling is concerned and you are fairly limited in what you can do to improve matters.

More power needs more cooling and if you don't improve the cooling then it could well overheat.

fuck i have a vantech tornado 80mm case fane hooked up to a converter thats bolted to my xp2500 atholon chip

controlling the fan with a lead i made up hooked up to a coolermaster voltage control

honestly, no shit, on full speed this thing is louder then a fucken hoover :D :D

full on gyroscopic movements when its not bolted down PMSL

it dropped my temps like something was broken LOL

although the noise was keeping us away at night, so we have it running at half RPM while in the winter, and we turn it up a smidge for the summer

    top home made cooler

mother board monitor says mine spins much faster then the rating for some reason

    Aye..

Turions aren't the best overclockers.. wouldn't bother tbh.

As for not seeing the point in overclocking.. I've got a dual core Opteron..

    Regular speed = 2.0Ghz
    My speed = 2.7Ghz

U can defo tell the difference.. :)

    cant remember TBH

fitted it years ago, i got a xp2500 and a xp2600 with the an7x mobo at the same time

my bottle neck is cheap memory, but IIRC it was sitting at 2.3ghz easy enough when i was chasing numbers LOL

the pc is used mainly for work now and the odd game of LFS so i cranked it back down to 2.15ghz keep it long term reliable and let me run the fan at a slower speed  (less voltage etc etc)

im fecked without the pc to do my daily takings on it

read some storys of people getting them up to 3ghz plus with water cooling LOL

i have just cranked the fan up to max voltage while i batch convert a load of lost episodes to .wmv so i can stream them to the xbox360

    technology, love it

IIRC its a 1.8ghz chip normally?
who said overclocking was a waste of time
