Outdoor Activities/Leisure in the NE I've just got back from a week of outdoor activities including canoeing, sea/rock scrambling, hill walking/orienteering, night lines and other random festivities and I absolutely loved every bit of it. It's been ages since I've actually done anything like this because my usual idea of fun is going to a house party or getting pissed in a club. I now have a massive craving to continue with at least one of these activities as a regular hobby so I was wondering if anyone here does anything like this? Hill walking etc can be arranged with m8's (providing any of mine will actually arse themselves with it ) but the canoeing especially would need to be a regular thing through some sort of leisure group. I know Newcastle Uni does this so I'm gonna look into it. Highly recommended for anyone who is getting sick of the same thing week in week out like I was Can't wait to do it again.. I'd love to kayak too. Got rock climbing coming up in the weeks ahead also!
canny few of my stoner mates love getting out on the mountain bikes or rambling for rock face to the next all over the NE while enjoying the J's. im not as active but would like to increase it next year . at the moment i ramble in the country looking for mushrooms flask, cakes etc. there is some lush scenery around here , im planning a hardrains wall walk in the future , itl be fun , il be fucked , but itl be fun
i used to do some rock climbing...still have stuff to sell...tried kayaking wa scnany hard but fun...walking was a cunt but ok if the weather was nice
Erm.. I forget It was with a course I'm doing through the fire service/prince's trust. We were staying at Ford Castle though and everywhere we went was within an hours drive. I didn't think I'd like the walking and my only goal before setting off was not to moan about it once, but after the initial walking along paths and through the forest I decided to take the group through fields and up through the rough and to the top of hills which meant getting wet, and wading through bushes etc which I loved Had a race to the top then ran down the other side doing barrel rolls now and again when I couldn't control my feet but it was a mint laugh. It seems that any time there's a danger of hurting or killing myself i start to really enjoy myself. Following paths isn't for me
haha has metroland closed? tbf going when going there as a kid - there was only so far the roller coaster and spitting off the swings could get you with a day pass (i hold stature since i spat on either daphne or celeste when they were doing a 'gig' convieantly underneath the swings on the stage ). but yeah - back on topic. i've never really done any heavy outdoor stuff, but used to go walking over a large majority of yorkshire with me dad. stopped a fair while ago because we both got jobs not outdoors - but i'd love to get back into ice hockey. i used to be fecking class, but alas the dream has gone
I used to do loads of walking, did the pennine way once, just seem to have got out of doing it now. did potholing for a while as well, till I got stuck in a little hole with water rising around my face and completely lost my bottle. biking is about as outside as it gets now....
