    Orange and TMobile to merge

Creating the largest phone company in the uk.

Bad news if you ask me, we have great price wars on PAYG in this country and its all down to the companys trying to outdo each other, these two included thats now over.

Also job losses are inevitable whatever they say. If you work for em start refreshing your CV now

why are job losses inevitable? is it not just a case of Orange having their logo on T-Mobile call centres etc? why should it make a difference to the staff?

Wonder if this will affect the us Market as orange aren't over here. Could be a big move for orange and there may be a knock on effect for staff as many mergers end up I'm job losses, anyone know how many Indian call centres t mobile have?

lol it was a simple question......this is a discussion board is it not? If your going to be a cock when someone asks about your post it kind of defeats the object

and no, for the record, i dont work for either company, i was just interested in some of the points you made and wandered if you had some kind of knowledge about it or if you were just assuming.

There is approx 18 months worth work in planning how Orange & T-Mobile are going to work together in the UK & then after that the axe will swing.

I think in the end T-Mobile will disappear from the UK.

Once they merge all there services it is pointless them promoting 2 brands against each other so the dominant brand will be the one they go with which is Orange. The word in press is they will also look to get the next Iphone deal.

Remember folks T-Mobile & Orange = German & French companies = stay clear.
02 = Once owned by BT sold to Spanish company Telfonica = stay clear. Vodafone = Biggest mobile phone company in the world* = BRITISH COMPANY = GO WITH THEM!!!

*= China Mobile is biggest but they dont count as it state owned:p

Head office bods are always the first go in these gigs as you they wont need two payroll depts, two training depts, two HR depts, etc. Of couse the new depts will be larger than before but smaller than the two separate companies.

On the high street you will see some shops disappear because they are not going to have two next door to each other, so then they lose managers, area managers, shop staff etc.

Any merger would have to go through the European Comission before it takes place, so this could take a while.

They're two big companies and it would have to be assessed whether or not they would have a monopoly over the market.

This merger will go through it is not like Orange & T-Mobile are merging & neither of them are the biggest in the UK market. The combined company would have approx 28.5 million customers the rest of the markets bigger players approx 48.5 million there is no way this would be blocked with numbers like that. I would be surprised if the Competition Commission (UK Government) even looked at when you consider both O2 & Vodafone both bid £3.5 billion for T-Mobile in recent months which would of made a much bigger company than the merger of these two.

You can still get a phone from Orange on a 12 month contract, the call centre staff will tell you differently as we are not supposed to promote the 12 months. They are very carefully hidden on the website
