    Operation Xmas Child

    Operation Christmas Child

A friend of mine is taking a lorry load of shoe box presents to Romanian orphanages on 1st december.

Most of you will be familiar with the plight of these kids. Conditions are very harsh and the scheme is intended to bring a little bit of cheer into their otherwise meager existence.

Sunday Trading is organising 2 collections.

1 is for cash. We are hoping to raise £200 or so to buy 2 basic, easy to operate, domestic hi-fi's. These will be given to a couple of the orphanages.

2nd we are collecting old unwanted CDs. Any music style at all. POP, R&B, DANCE, EASY, CLASSICAL WHATEVER.

Many of these kids will never have heard music before.

The CDs we collect will be divided between the two orphanages to give them a ready made library for the kids enjoyment.

Should anyone wish to donate either money or old unwanted CDs, please either drop them off at the Egypt Cottage on Friday on your way to Promise or Saturday at Spank, or on Sunday at Sunday Trading.

Please note - if friday or saturday - please bag them up and label them clearly for the attention of Sunday Trading otherwise this might cause a headache for the staff.

Music is the food of love
    Music calms the savage beast.

Help us bring a little light into someones life. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Anyone who donates a minimium of 10 old CDs ON Sunday will get free entry to Sunday Trading on 17 Nov.

ps. we need to move fast on this as the warehouse dealing with the shipment is staffed by volunteers and has limited capacity to sort this out so we can't leave it to the last minute.

    yeah! what a lush idea!

you can also do shoeboxes, and on the leaflet it tells you what to put in and what not to put in.

me being blonde and thick saw the "no books" and made a remark to the effect "are they thick or something??" only to be pointed out to that the romanians would understand english.

    :dunce:

but thats a brilliant idea! i made a shoebox last year, we had loads of fun doing it!

That's totally sweet of you guys. Yes you can use my name for any posters.

If you do get any grief about the authenticity of of the collection email me for my tel number or put my email on the poster.

Dale, one of the barmen at Rockies has kindly said he will run a collection at the shop he works at daytime in south sheilds and their staff will supply one of the hi fi's. HOW COOL IS THAT!
