Online radio.. why not set up an online radio on the forum, sure there would be plenty dj's on here would be up for doing sets like?liven the board up, done it before on other forums using winamp, not that difficult to set up... who's up for it?:wiggle: link
easy to do, but who will provide a stream server? average adsl is ~256k upstream = 2 people listening at 128k you can go less on the quality, but people winge at 192k mp3s in a club/bar (cos they can tell the difference when they're mortal drunk/high as an astronaut) so what makes you think they're going to want <128k from the comfort of their 2" desktop pc speakers? David Lee off here does an iradio show from Orbitalgrooves.com (they supply the bandwidth) maybe thats a way to go with it? or I think the lads on the Serato forum use http://www.stickam.com and do it with their webcams could be worth a laff if sorted right
Definately worth taking into consideration, only if I can play a Drum nd Bass 6 hour marathon every Tuesday night
i've got them, plus 2 12" monitor speakers attached these days i'm game for this - although im still busy trying to sort my decks out! might just record a show for yaz looking forward to the carson boom-shanka 6 hour marathon already
get a stream on and i'll chuck vid streams of of me doing various different versions of this [yt]T7PHCpVEH60[/yt] in varying different costumes. to breakcore
Ive been involved with a couple of online stations in the past, to be honest ive always found that unless you are one of the bigger stations ie VONYC or DI-FM noone really listens to them, making it a bit pointless really. If anyone were to set one up i would be up for a slot however it is worth doing some research into whether board members would bother tuning in before getting it set up.
aye definately mate, there must some techno bods on here know how to sort it, and i thought the radio would just be for the board anyway..it would be worth it as its a decent opportunity for any budding talent to get themselves heard i reckon...
Why dont you just make a podcast and update it with a new mix every couple of weeks, a hell of a lot easier and more effective than setting up a radio station that noone would listen to.
you mean instead of a podcast that no one will download? isnt a podcast just the same as making a mix and putting the download link here - no interaction or tune requests or banter? theres so many things a podcast is good for, but its like comparing a cd from woolworths to radio 1 - its two completely different formats. and before someone tells me something rubbish about internet radio and radio 1 being in different leagues. do one.
and yet again, something that could of made the boards a little bit more interesting has been brought down by the overlord of minimal house. just joking ofcourse, but it could be a laugh - since it doesent really take much effort to put a live stream up.
an alternative idea that already, technically speaking, is happening in the mixes section? hearing it live is more of an alternative? whatever. its derby day. im still mortal off yesterday. i'm off to stare at that flow chart you made last night.
