    got to www.download.com , and download a program called
    ad-aware and run this on your comp it will get rid of pop ups and adverts

    dont think that they are standard popups...if it is the ones I get too then they are actually network broadcast messages.

    i just stopped em with firewall, blocked any incoming packets from the originator's IP...not very effective tho as the IP keeps changing ;) ;p

    will look for summit else tho cos they are WELL ANNOYING!!!!

    You need to turn off the "messaging service" in your windows services panel.

    To get this you right click on "my computer" and select "manage" - then find the "services" section and browse till you find the one about messaging...

    Right click on this and select "stop", then set it to "disabled" - click apply and you should be good to go.

    I know this is one of the means how people get pop up adverts - you can try using ad-aware too to scan for "spyware" programs too.

    yeah that should sort it, had never seen those pop ups untill i rebuilt my mates PC with 2000 on last night, and within 5mins off it being back on the net it was recieving these messages...

    you can disable the messaging service but not the best way....

    people are even SELLING software that only disables messaging service for u!!! lol..the cheek!!!

    just install a firewall and config it to block out the port being used to annoy you!!!

    search on google for "preventing net send spam" or summit - theres loads of info on howto combat it....

    best way is to log their ip's and report the annoying twats as well!!!!
