    One for the ultra teckies!

I want to use bandwidth throttling on a server.

    The server runs win2k.

I want the throttling to effect just one of the ips mapped to the nic.

I can install another nic if I can then just throttle the whole nic rather than a mapped ip on a shared nic.

I wanted to limit the traffic on that nic/mapped ip to 2mbit per sec.

does anyone know what on earth I'm on about???

    Thanking you please.

hmm i think its probably gonna hit a cul de sac but the QOS packet scheduler is all about bandwidth throttling when the NIC needs it or not - its usually the first thing i disable on a fresh winxp install to stop any download speed restrictions on my broadband.......... to be honest its probably not going to make a difference to you but might be worth looking at if you hit a blank elsewhere :spangled:

just stick another nic in and limit the whole card will be easier.

net limiter will do the trick...

I had a mate that did that, and drained the bandwidth for the whole of the south-west of england. He's now banned from using anything/any product related to BT.

This program does the job perfectly...

    http://bandwidthcontroller.com/

Can define bandwidth rules based on almost anything including

    your ip
    their ip
    port
    direction of traffic

    It's just the job.

I was wondering if the nic in that computer can handle that much bandwidth. Most only do 100meg, I'm guessing the guy that pulled this off must of had a gigabit LAN.

Seems a bit tall this story. :D
