NY Club Crackdown goes on Rudolph Giuliani’s replacement Michael Bloomberg is escalating New York City authorities’ campaign against anti nightlife after a brief pause following September 11, the New York Times reported this week. Since April 2002, the billionaire Mayor has re-activated M.A.R.C.H. (the Multi Agency Response to Community Hotspots), a puritanical police squad who raid entertainment venues looking to close them down by finding minor licensing violations such as the presence of any fruit flies in liquor. "The Police Department is not less tough on night life,” division chief Robert F. Messner boasted to the Times. "If you listen to stories about what led to this homicide or what led to this assault, you would be surprised how many stem from nightclubs. We don't want those places in New York,” he admitted. Im not quite sure what the Problem is over in the states, why clubbing and nightclubs are such a problem, i havent read that much on the actual situation over there but it seems as though they have "war on terrorism" & "war on Iraq" and there latest is "war on clubs", and with there antinightlife RAVE act set to go through, which gives them the right to shut down events, it doesnt look to good
