    Not burning to disc..

When I put a DVD into my PC, it reads it fine, but when I try to copy files to it, it comes up with 'there has been a problem copying these files to the disc' error message with no other explanation or options..

If I open Nero or other burning software and click 'burn to disc' it registers I've clicked it but doesnt execute anything..

It reads discs, lets me rip stuff off them, but won't let me write to them... this is with brand new discs in too, it's a fairly new and bloody expensive Sony drive too..

    Any ideas what's the problem?

    Ta :)

Only explanation I can think of is that you're maybe trying to use a writer that only supports DVD-R with DVD+R discs or vice versa. Can you write CDs with it or is it only DVDs that give you bother?

Check what type of DVD media you're using.

Then open up your start menu, go to Nero>Nero Toolkit>Nero InfoTool, and click on it.

Take a screenshot and post it up on here.

    has it ever worked?

if it's a faulty driver - u can change the way it burns : Try setting the transfer mode from DMA (better, faster) to PTO (slower) - Go into device manager, right click on the IDE controller it's connected to, go to advanced - change from DMA to PTO
