nooooooow Brian. they actually are

Most of the MP3s you download are 160 or 192, and most that you buy (usually only for a couple of quid) are usually over 200kbps.

    BUT, heres the important part.

MP3s from a p2p application have almost always been ripped from a vinyl. But when you download an MP3 from a record label, or whereever (such as city16, release etc), they would have been encoded straight from the source, usually the original WAV on the producers computer. Which makes a HHHUUUUGGGGEEEE difference to sound quality.

im all for paying for MP3 downloads, as the quality rocks....and whats a few quid to support your fave producers?....:)

But if that's the case aren't the people who normally rip them just going to pay for a top notch mp3 and then put that one available to share ...................

I think it's about time labels and record stores have decent quality sample of there songs on there websites. I like to have a good listen of a song before i think of buying it. Massive records have the right idea of having the song split causing to press play five times throughout the song

    Stops any potential rippers:evil:

Any nuff of that , just ordered my copy off anjunabeats , thanks again for the info :D :D :D :D

now, this could be a problem...but some labels have started to think ahead. If you d/l from hooj, the file will ONLY play in windows media player 9, and you are required to enter your invoice number, and a password in to play the file! quite cool....
