Nicolas Anelka Everton have confirmed an interest in signing Fenerbahce striker Nicolas Anelka. The French forward is an ambitious target for David Moyes, who had suggested he would not be overly active during this month's transfer window. Anelka recently expressed a desire to return to England - "to play for a major club" - and Toffees boss Moyes is keen to try and convince the ex-Liverpool striker to return to Merseyside. "He's one of several options we're considering," an Everton spokesman told Sky Sports News. After leaving Manchester City for Turkey last year, the 26-year-old has already grown unsettled in Istanbul. Newcastle United tried to sign the former Arsenal attacker before landing Michael Owen and Albert Luque, although Owen's broken foot may lead Graeme Souness to resurrect an interest in Anelka. ----------- Its just been on sky sports news this story aswell and some french journalist said he gave them an interrview and said he isnt interested in going to Everton and would prefere a move to Newcastle.
How long will he last though? Anelka has talent, no doubt about it, but he always ends up moving elsewhere due to the whisperings of his brother/agent. He's easily swayed and he seems to change clubs more frequently than Joe changes his taste in music.
He wants a move to the Toon. He'd be the last player I'd want if I was a toon fan. Especially with his track record of disrupting setups etc... a loan deal for him would be ok I guess, but if you signed him on a 3 year deal, he'd piss off within a year and a half.
