news reporting aussie style http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/814694/man-shot-twice-in-leg-in-inner-sydney
love the quotations on the storey: "There were these two [men] fighting," Clare told told Nine News. "The fatter [man] said to the skinnier [man], 'Oi bro, you slept with my cousin'. And the other one said 'Nah man, I didn't." The larger man then reportedly pulled out a gun and fired, the young woman said.
Wog means someone from Italian/Greek extraction in Australia, and over time has become a term of endearment. My girlfriend is Italian Australian and her own family refer to themselves as wogs (she gets called wop over here). Wogs as we know them simply get called coons, nigs or abos! There is so much piss taking in the culture over there you get used to the name calling and being called a pom/paddy/paki whatever. Asked a taxi driver where he was from once, and he proudly replied "I'm a Paki mate".
seems a much more relaxed way of dealing with it i suppose, people not taking offence. still, i'm not going to be shouting it down northumberland street or on 'Look North' just yet.
ive listerned to the commentry of aussie v pakistan at the cricket and they refer to them as pakis without any hesitation
Because they are Pakis, I have found it is when you start calling Indians Pakis that they get pissed off.
shame this country isn't more like that. They don't even sing ba ba black sheep anymore, its ba ba rainbow sheep ffs
you wouldnt hear them called it on british tv dont know how it came to this tho is it any differant to us being called a brit or is because its normally followed by the word cunt or bastard
it's usually the meaning behind it - when words like paki or wog are used here, it's usually intended as an insult which is why they're offensive
