Newcastle Records shops... Is it just me, or has Newcastle got one of the poorest choice for decent trance/hard dance/hard dance music... I ve counted four shops sellin records along those lines: Reflex..absolute shit... no order, just pot luck as to whether thay have anything half decent... one deck, normally with a hord of charvas listenin to the latest hardcore at +10% pitch... Flying... have a handful of tunes each week, but nothing spectular, too laid back attitude in there maybe? HMV... get tunes on the more commercial side, and a few promos at rip off prices... theres normally a deck or two broken dude to idiot charvas thinkin they re playing in the DMC World Championships... Global DJ Centre... Wasnt that impressed with the few records they had in the boxes, but then again, i suppose its a off shoot of they're main business.. all in all not very impressive really... what do others think? I do realise that there isnt really a big enuff market to warrent a trance/hard house specific shop... but it would be nice to bable to walk into a record shop and see a few moro promos wouldn't it?
The hard facts... I stopped shopping in Newcastle for trance in 1995. We dont have a decent trance outlet; why, I do not know. Lee!

Flying actually do specialise in 'Deep, Progressive House and Funky US House', told to me by Scott when I interviewed him for my GCSE Business Studies project I think that the only real underground record shop you mentioned there was shindig i take it u mean Flying! Doggie, which is run in conjunction with Shindig, whose music policy is 'True House Music'. I do agree that the reason there isn't a lot of Hard Trance, etc. in there is that there's a real laid-back vibe, though. Why not buy off the net? It's usually easier and gives you a better tune selection most of the time.
