Possibly a story invented by bored headline writers, Sam Allardyce is reportedly interested in Nice's full back Rod Fanni (pictured left in black). However, some substance was added to the tale with Fanni's agent Dominique Six saying: "Allardyce knows about him, I am due in England next week and we will be looking to meet with Newcastle." Other clubs reportedly showing interest in Fanni are Celtic, Rennes, Monaco and Paris St. Germaine. Six continued: "He is very content in France and has three offers, but he really wants to play in England." "Fanni is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in France and he is the quickest." Six is also looking to tout one of his other clients, Fulham's ex-Smoggie defender and red-card specialist Frank Queudrue. The arrival at Craven Cottage of Paul Konchesky from West Ham seems to have unsettled Queudrue and he is reported to be having talks with Allardyce on Monday.
