    Newcastle Confirm Belgravia Talks

Newcastle United have confirmed that talks with investment group Belgravia are ongoing.

The North East club made the announcement after reports suggested that the Jersey-based Belgravia were in negotiations with all of Newcastle's shareholders regarding the purchase of The Magpies.

Newcastle initially denied that such negotiations were taking place, but the club have since confirmed to ongoing talks with Belgravia, though stressing that no formal offer had been made for the St James' Park outfit.

"Whilst discussions are ongoing between the two parties, it (Newcastle United) has not received a formal proposal from Belgravia or any other entity," read a Newcastle statement.

"There can be no certainty that an offer will be made, nor as to the terms on which any offer would be made."

The news comes as Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd has come under fire from sections of Newcastle's support following the club's poor start to the season.

Glenn Roeder's side will aim to turn their fortunes around when they host Premiership rivals Portsmouth in the Carling Cup third round on Wednesday evening.
