New Sound Card and Midi Keyboard needed Well my mother has given me her pc for now as she has a new laptop. I'm now in need of a new sound card and also a midi controller. the soundcard I have in mind is the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI and the midi controller is the Edirol PCR50 Is this a good choice for my first "bedroom setup" or can anyone recommend anything better? cheeRS :chill:
M-Audio gear is spot on although I am not sure if that sound card will work in a laptop.... You could always go with one of these which has a USB audio interface and USB MIDI interface: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MAudioOzone-main.html
no no, I have her pc and she has the laptop! I am still getting to grips with all the terminology etc what do you mean by it having a USB interface and USB Midi interface? what would that enable me to do ?
It's basically a midi keyboard with a built in sound card, so you can plug other bits of hardware into it, and you can also set up a set of monitor speakers/headphones to run out of it.......It all plugs into your computer via a single USB cable
which do you think would be the better option as all I want it for is to learn how to use Reason and Logic at home after college ?
erm, an audiophile is a combo card, midi interface + soundcard, unless you have hardware there aint much point in gettin it u may aswell just buy a usb midi keyboard and keep the soundcard you have if you are only just beginning to learn
