Do yourself a favour and get someone to build you one, you'd get a mint setup for £500 if you did.

it's almost AS cheap to get a ready made base unit from these computer shops now as it is buidling your own.

They're more hassle than they're worth. If something goes wrong you have to track down that particular vendor and usually have to ship stuff off to them sometimes incurring extortionate postal and/or admin costs. When my Radeon 9700 broke they wanted me to post it over to germany covering both charges, and pay an admin fee of £20 and there was no guarentee they'd fix it.

Next time I'm going to stick with a pre-built system where everything is covered by an on site warranty.

Companys like Mesh and Dell, and Evesham produce good pcs these days

they come with warrantys, and they work perfect out of the box.

Ive built pcs in the past, and mine was all made and upgraded by myself, and yes its stable, it runs well.. but buying from a company would be my choice if i had the cash

500 is kinda mid range pc territory. It will play most games at standard resolutions but dont expect anything amazing.

Like i mentioned. Evesham have been good for my friend, and mesh and dell provide stable good quality pcs now too.

People who think going to an independant place and getting them to build one are wrong if they expect good quality components. They use cheap generic brands.
