Its not bad chick but you get the feelign it's all been done before. It's want's to be the original and some of it worked and some didn't. This is the 2nd version that was made. The orignal cut was alot more drama based kind of a religious drama as opposed to out and out gory horror that this version was.

The story behind the films making is better than the film itself which says it all.

:tut: put into context (and before the butchery of the 'special editions' and subsequent piss takes) the original was (and still is in my opinion) one of the scariest horror movies ever made. Atmospheric, brutal, clinical with a neat dig at the incompetency of the church.

I think its because it was the first film of its time and the effects are rather realistic, its also quite disturbing or will have been in the 70's when it came out, my pops was saying people were throwing up in the cinema and walking out in discust when he went to see it.

    Soft C unts!

Very true mate. Its own success has been its own pitfall plus the evolution of audience tastes (and tolerences sp). By the time we had an official release in 98 we'd endured 25 years of censorship of it so all we had were the piss takes etc which slackened its impact. Shame on the BBFC :tut:

Scared me at the flicks in 98 though

when i was little, i used to be scared stiff of anything remotely scary.
i had nightmares for about 2 yrs, about a film about a dopilganger. jus i seen sum1 gettin drowned in a bath.

i had a doll call cricket, wot used 2 talk so i thort it was like chuckie. i used 2 punch n kick it all ova. i punched its eye into its body.

now i luv horror films, most r jus funny tho.

They don't make good scary horror movies anymore. Shaem really :( The definition of a horror movie seems ot have changed somewhat since the influx of splatter flicks in the late 70s/80s.

@Vandenburg - Exorcist 2 was indeed wank. A self-reighteous crop of Yak turd best forgotten. Part 3 was great and a real return to the old school, even if they changed the ending and fucked with the original title. Getting a Redux on DVD aswell I think not sure if its still in the works.

The new(ish) Dawn of the Dead was pretty good, was more 'jumpy' than scary if you know what I mean, I really enjoyed it, the ending was class!
