Nero Burning Rom freezes This is starting to do my napper in  Recently re-installed Nero on my PC, got the right serial code for my Mitsumi CD writer so it will let me choose it as a recorder, everything works fine til write a CD then it hangs Nero (and the PC) at the "Checking Disk" stage. Dunno if this is anything to with it but I reinstalled XP Pro few months ago (which blitzed Nero) and the CD drive in the device manager is saying it's using a microsoft driver. If I try to update the driver it says it keeping the microsoft one as that's the best available. Been trying to get a new driver but all that's available is a firmware upgrade not a device driver goddamn fooking stupid computers    anyone help?
dont need any 3rd party drivers mate. try updating the firmware. re-install nero..jus got sum corrupt files
if updating the firmware hangs the pc sounds like a problem when accessing the device........... hmm - check the cables etc mate. can u read cd's in it etc. ok? if so its not the device..
shud be alrite tho if its been workin ok mate before - sounds like a software glitch.. always best option to give it its own controller tho..saves potential hassle bahhh dont u just HATE computers!
If all else fails, uninstall Nero and unplug yer writer. Boot XP then switch off, plug yer writer back in, boot up and reinstall Nero.
Just a thought. I hate PC's everyday but without them (and numpty users(not you Si)) I'd be out of work.
It is sharing an IDE thingy with another CD drive, so I'm gonna do what you said, take out the other CD drive, deinstall it all reinstall it all without the other drive and that'll probly work. Then put the other CD drive back in maybe cheers lads
I shouldn't have said that about IDE sharing cos if it's always been like that, it isn't likely to be the cause of your problems. Do what I suggested anyway. By booting Windows with your writer unplugged it should do away with any conflicting config (If you check My Computer, the drive will be gone altogether). Then switch off, plug it back, boot up and allow Windows to redetect it.
Just shows how long I've been in IT. So how come the latest versions of Nero warn you if your trying to copy "on the fly" when you have your CD-ROM and CDRW on the same controller?? Surely this means that there could still be some reliability issues with certain configs.
there is m8 some drives just wont work on a shared bus...need to have their own............ greed thats all it is............ granted its rare these days BUT still does happen now n then
