    Naughty Virgin Media!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7483675.stm

Anyone else think they're on self destruct at the moment?? they've got the best quality broadband package but they seem to be stumbling from 1 blunder to another. Losing the sky channels, putting up prices, bandwidth throttling and now talking about banning file sharing sites - the internet is meant to be free?! now they're TELLING us where we can go and when. I can see me dumping them soon and going for a ADSL package...

    Re: Naughty Virgin Media!

whey 1st off there was no chance that the sky channels were gonna stay, sky staff were telling VM customers that the sky channels were going 2 months before VM knew!

2nd, prices going up? where else can you get telephone line with free calls 24/7, 20MB broadband and top pack on tv for £56 a month? :p

3rd, the banning of file sharing sites is only for people who use them to serious excess (which granted is probably 75% of people on here), but weren't you one of the people saying that downloading illegal music was wrong? ;)

but Phil, would you really go to an ADSL ISP and probably get a maximum of less than 2mbps?!!!

ermm - do u WORK for them?

    SSSSSSCCCCCCCCCAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBB

to be honest, i can get 8mb ADSL cheaper than 2mb virgin - i know i wont get 8mb (even though the exchange is round the corner) but it's still better than virgin!

they're just starting to take liberties with their customers

    ermm - aye

thing is with the cheaper adsl option you've got to have a BT line. thats gonna be £11 a month, and for those that havent had a BT line before its another £130 call out for the line to be sorted.

end of the day, not just saying this coz i work for them, they're a hell of a lot better value for money than BT, Sky etc.

Sky's surf, talk, tv thing is £16, plus £11 for line rental (less £3 for direct debit), so for £24 per month unlimited/uncapped 8mb, free phone calls and basic tv stuff (inc sky+ offer on) - at the moment i'm paying £20 for basic line and broadband, no free calls, no telly and 2mb - plus they're getting worse!

currently i'm holding off as i hate sky - but it comes down to money...soon my wallet will start complaining and my morals will cave ;)

that's exactly the same as me except the speed is supposed to be up to 8. most of the time it's little better than dial up. utter shite. I've been with Virgin for years and it's only inertia that keeps me with them.
