    MYSQL Auto Number?

I know its possible but don't know how..

In Access you simply set the field type to "Auto-number" but I can't see anything within the MYSQL program I'm using (Navicat) that would allow me to set a field to Auto Number.

I've heard the phrase incremental integer thrown about but no methods of using it as a field setting :spangled:

    Any ideas?

Probably.. but the IT sector is very saturated at the moment..

I might be switching jobs to an IT Technician soon.. but even then that only allows a maximum wage of £17k a year.. which ain't great.

I'm doin a canny bit of freelance work on the side so all is good.

Tbh.. I'm not that much of a geek.. I just know what I'm talking about.. given a few years you could be at the level I am now..

Don't you have an entire company to take over?

If I'm gonna be honest I don't think I could run the company..
    I'm not very mechanically minded.

Don't get me wrong.. I'd love to do it.. but I just don't think I'm the right person to do it.

If I do get left it then I'll employ someone else to run it.

Stay away from the "techy" side mate - as you say not a lot to be made.

Get yourself into something like Essbase. Get yourself clued up (www.hyperion.com) and go freelance essbase consulting, mega £££.

Or take a look at going into the business side of things as a business analyst or something?

Essbase is way to complex for me atm.

I'm gonna get my head round a few languages first.
    I so far know -

    • VB
    • ASP
    • obv - HTML
    • C++
    • Pascal
    • Small bits of PHP

I'm gonna bash on with PHP next and then probably ASP.net or C#.

Once I've tackled those.. then I'll probably look into Essbase.
I'm also interested in Oracle.. but I don't really like Databases :)

    *Edit*

Add AJAX to the list of things I wanna learn :)
    It looks awesome!
