    MUZIK magazine to close

    Muzik Magazine to close.

    here is the official statement:
IPC ignite! is to close its monthly dance magazine, Muzik, with effect from the August issue on sale July 9.

Advertisement and copy sale revenues have declined in parallel with the decline of this sector of the music market, to the point that the title is no longer economically viable.

Tim Brooks, managing director of IPC ignite! – which also publishes the market-leading rock weekly NME, and the award-wining music and movies monthly Uncut - says: “We have a very talented and dedicated team on Muzik, and I want to thank them all for their hard work and their grace under pressure. Sadly, nothing they could do in isolation was going to turn around this sector of the music market. Just like the broader music industry of which we’re proud to be a part, we have to channel our resources to where the consumers are.”

The closure will result in no more than ten redundancies, and every effort will be made to find alternative jobs for all those affected.

Used to subscribe to Muzik but thought it was aimed at people in the south and was always trying to be too cool

    It will be sadly missed.

    Stealth changes...

I think the editor was trying to change Muzik into an urban black underground magazine. Whilst this probably pleased a certain percentage of the audience, I think it pissed off 95 percent of the other readers.

    Re: Stealth changes...

exactly, it pissed me off no end

you only got half a page towards the end didnt you?

the amount of reviews for soul, urban etc were quite high i thought
and that aint why i buy the mag!

    Re: Stealth changes...

yeah i noticed that, good point, but i think that audience would still go for the other magazines just about urban music:)
