    what free program could i use to recode a MP3 file from a high bitrate to a lower one?

    download the software, decompress the MP3 to a WAV and then re-encode it at the bitrate of your choice.

    cheers dude, is there not a program that does it directly, without the WAV bit?

    i used to use musicmatch jukebox and that had a function in it, but moved to itunes now

    i use power mp3 wma coverter

    got it for changing the bitrate of me mp3s to round about 90 for use on me mobile, so i can get more tunage onto the duo card.
